On a recent visit to my dad’s, I stumbled upon a box of old banger racing photos. What started as a trip down memory lane quickly turned into a full-circle moment. As I sat there, now fully committed to sign painting, it hit me—those wild weekends at the track didn’t just fill my childhood with noise and excitement. They quietly planted the seeds for the work I do today.
Where the Perfectly Imperfect Came Alive
Banger racing isn’t a polished sport. It’s not meant to be. That’s what makes it so magnetic to me. The cars were painted with heart and soul—stars and stripes across bonnets, bold lettering stretched across battered doors—these designs were alive—they’re declarations of individuality.

As soon as I could drive, I convinced my dad to come out of racing retirement (after more than 20 years off the track) and help get me behind the wheel. I didn’t realise it at the time, but banger racing wasn’t just about speed and crashes. It was about expression, individuality, and raw, rebellious creativity. That same spirit fuels me today—a DIY ethos I pour into signs that aren’t just nice—they’re bold, personal, and full of character.
